Aniket Deshmukh

There are manifestations of optimism, despair, love, and frustration, as well as sensitivity and humour. Aniket attempts to capture moments of joy, grief, conflict, and cooperation, much like in real life.

Born in a small town of Maharashtra, Aniket grew up in Nashik. Being in the rural parts for most of his life, Aniket started looking into the essence of life there with a story in his mind. Anything he saw made a frame and a story in his mind. This quality in him kept growing after he moved to the Mumbai. In this busting city with vibrant colors and dynamic energy, Aniket lived in the slums of Mumbai where he started connecting to the stories over there.

Aniket’s eye captured faces, struggles, happiness, chaos, reflections, patterns, textures and the moments behind all these. He wandered the streets searching for different stories and captured their essence. In his images, Aniket always tries to show the authenticity and rawness of human life. He tries to capture these elements of life in a way that are both striking and evocative, in a way that every picture could talk to its viewer. Aniket has always connected the most with the streets, the innocence and happiness which does not ask much, attracts him his camera to capture the feelings in those moments.

He believes, everything, living and non-living has a story to tell, a story that someone lives and someone else feels in the same way just by looking at those things. Be it a window in an old wada or be it a wooden table scratched with a name on it, be it a person hanging from the doors of the local or be it the one who in their heart just pray for the safety of that stranger hanging in the local train. Aniket sees a resemblance in all, he believes that our lives are more similar than we know, than we think.
